Tummy Time with Jada

Caeden had LOTS of awake time yesterday, so last night we decided to lay him on a blanket on the floor for tummy time. Jada thought it was a good idea for herself too!

Caeden Meets The Extended Family on the Carmon Side

Sorry it's been a few days since we last posted. This weekend was pretty busy for us. The Doherty Reunion was held in Inwood on Saturday and family came in to town on Friday night so Caeden's been pretty busy meeting his great aunts and uncles and lots of extended family. Mommy had her Dr's appointment on Friday and all is well there. The incision is healing up nice everything looks great. Caeden has been a very good baby for the last few days. He's been sleeping in five hour stretches through the night. Last night he was asleep by 11:30 and didn't wake up until around 4:30, went back to sleep and was up for the day around 8:00. So we can't complain too much, the only thing is he wants to be held when he's sleeping, that or he sleeps on a pillow between us at night. He's becoming a very spoiled baby already, not sure if that's a good thing when it comes to the sleep thing though. Caeden got to visit Mommy's work today. He's going to be visiting Grandpa Jeff's work on Wednesday and he's off to visit Daddy's work on Friday. Today was Mommy's first day at home alone with him so she's trying to find things to keep busy and entertained.

Swing Time

Caeden's first time in the swing!

Caeden's First Dr Appt

Caeden had his first well baby appointment today. He now weighs 7 lbs. 4 oz! The nurse didn't want to attempt to measure how long he is because he was not too happy about being stripped down to his diaper to be weighed. Dr. Meyer looked at him and said he's looking really good so we're very happy. He had a really good day today. He was fed at 10, had is appointment at 11 and did great at Culver's for lunch, survived his first trip to Wal-mart, and also got to go to Great Grandma and Grandpa Reiter's house for the first time. He pretty much slept through the whole outing! Tomorrow is Mommy's check up with the Dr that performed the surgery. Pretty sure everything will go well there too! We put him in his swing for the first time today and he really seemed to enjoy the motion and the music :)Each night seems to be getting a little better with him. Hopefully we're not jinxing ourselves by saying so, guess we'll let you know after tonight!

Caeden in the Dump Truck!

Great Grandma and Grandpa Reiter gave Caeden a dump truck because his room is Construction themed. He's the perfect size for it :)

HE'S HOME!!!!

At around 2:30 yesterday afternoon we were walking in the door of our house with Caeden in our arms. It feels so good to be home. The afternoon went really well yesterday, the night was a whole different story. He didn't really seem to want to go to sleep but felt the need to eat like there was no tomorrow, not to mention dirty his diapers every two or three hours. Mommy and Daddy didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night and poor Daddy had to go to work again this morning. Hopefully he's not falling asleep at his computer. The dogs did great when we brought Caeden in to the house. Jada is extremely curious and maybe even a little protective. We had him sleeping in his floor bassinet and every once in awhile she had to go check to make sure he was still there. Anytime we leave the room with him the dogs seem to be at our feet. We were a little worried about how they would react but they're doing great. Hope it stays that way!!

No More Billiblanket!!!

Caeden had a great day yesterday when it came to his feedings. Unfortunately he was very spitty today and didn't eat as much as we would have hoped so we had to give him formula for the first time. It was going well until he decided to take huge gulps which ended up making him sick. Tonight after the nurses' shift change they came in and took his billiblanket for his Jaundice and said he's done with it for now. They will check his billi count tomorrow morning and hopefully it stayed down so he won't need it anymore. You can definitely tell that his body is busy getting rid of the billiroubin because he had four fairly good size blow outs today. Never thought we'd get so excited about wet and poopy diapers :) He had kind of a rough evening after he was given his Hepatitis B shot at 6:30. They say it makes them feel kind of crappy and I'm pretty sure that was the case for the little guy because this was the first time he's ever really been fussy. Another first for us tonight was giving him a sponge bath. He wasn't too excited about it until we washed his hair and were brushing it, boy did he calm down after that. Because of his stressful entrance into this world they are also going to be doing a car seat challenge on him in the middle of the night. They'll be placing him in his car seat for an hour and will be watching his stats to make sure they remain fairly constant. If they don't we may have to use a car bed for him instead of his infant seat for awhile. If all goes well tomorrow we're hoping he may be going home after Kyle gets off work. So cross your fingers and say a prayer that we'll finally be able to bring our little guy home :)

Update on Caeden

About 18 hours after being born Caeden was moved to the third floor NICU (a step down NICU) where he is continuing to have his heart rate, oxygen and respiratory levels are being monitored. Wednesday afternoon he was placed on the Billiblanket for his jaundice. Their main concern has been his feeding after all of the stress he went through during labor and delivery. He was on an IV until Thursday when they started to ween him off as his feedings became longer and more successful. By Friday morning he was completely off of it and showing very good signs of being close to coming home. Yesterday he became really spitty and was throwing up quite a bit, so around 4:00 this morning he was placed back on the IV so he would not become dehydrated. They ran some tests this morning on his intestines and everything is looking fine, so he may just have an easily upset belly. We're hoping to be able to feed him around noon today. With any luck he should be coming home tomorrow or Monday. So please cross your fingers and say a prayer for our little guy. We're ready to have him home and his "brother" and "sister" are anxiously awaiting his arrival. They're all decked out in blue bandannas for the occasion :)

The New Baby!

After two long days of off and on contractions we proudly announce that Caeden Mark has finally arrived via emergency C-section. Here are the pictures of the new baby Caeden! He weighs 6 pounds and 13 ounces and measures 18 3/4 inches long. He truly is our little miracle baby. He is currently spending time in the NICU where he is being monitored because of his low heart rate at birth and meconium in his system. With any luck he'll feed tomorrow and will get to join us in our hospital room.
